Lost in the Blue Mountains of Jamaica

10th May 2024_

After our week in Kingston, we took a little trip up into the Blue Mountains, where we met a Jamaican/British couple that were from Lewisham but now living up in the Blue Mountains. Although pretty secluded and hard to reach, their place was stunning. They grew a lot of their own produce and even produced their own Blue Mountain coffee that we got to try. We got lost on a hike on the first day there but made it to irish town where we had a drink at cafe blue.

The way back was pitch black through some jungly areas but we made it back after hours of walking. We stayed there a few days, it rained a lot so got reading on a book there called Reggae Bloodlines, which introduced me deeper to the history behind reggae and rasta culture. So much beautiful nature up there, will be heading up that way again when I next visit Jamaica.
